For clubs and riding groups

Ride it together

Recommend the Autumn Festival to your club or riding group: free, online, open until Tuesday 10 November

Every club wants good learning for its members. Usually that means booking a trainer, a venue and a date, and finding the money for it. This autumn there's another way: recommend the Festival to your members, and ride it together at your own stable.

Why it matters to a club

The biggest difference for horses' welfare isn't made in rule books or in competition arenas. It's made by everyday riders, in the saddle, ride after ride. That's the good news, because it's the part you can change. Most clubs share that aim, and the Festival gives your members a way to work on it together.

What the Festival is

It's about what is causing the problems riders feel in the saddle: why the horse responds the way he does, and how they change it from the saddle, step by step. This autumn, the riders in the Festival are working out what to build before spring.

  • Free, for every member.
  • Online, in their own time, on their own horse.
  • For every level: there's no level you have to reach first.
  • Short parts, released one at a time, with small exercises. Nothing to film, and nobody watches.
  • Open until Tuesday 10 November.

What your club gets

  • A real educational offer for your members, at no cost.
  • No venue, no travel and nothing to organise.
  • It reaches members who live far from the main activity.
  • Something to talk about at the stable.

Three ways to take part

Share it. Post it in your club's group or member mail. The text is ready below.

Ride it together. The Festival has two riding weekends: 30 October to 1 November, and 7 to 8 November. They can become your club's Festival weekends, with members riding the exercises side by side at your stable.

Talk about it. A club evening on what members noticed in their own horses. The riders' own observations are the material.

Who's behind it

I'm Bent Rune Skulevold. I've taught riders for nearly 50 years, and I hold the senior riding instructor qualification in three national systems: BHSI (England), Auktoriserad ridlärare (Strömsholm, Sweden) and Ridelærer III (Norway). I have around twenty years as an international FEIF Sports judge and around twenty years as a Gæðingakeppni landsdómari. More about me on the About page.

Is there a catch?

Two things, said openly. To join, members sign up to my knowledge hub, the email list the Festival comes through, and they can unsubscribe with one click at any time. And at the end, riders who want to go further can join the Next Step Forward Bootcamp, a paid programme starting on 9 November. Nobody has to, and nothing in the Festival depends on it.

When your horse tenses, hesitates or loses the tölt, what is he telling you? Here's a free online Festival for Icelandic horse riders, open until Tuesday 10 November: what is causing the problems you feel in the saddle, and how you change it, step by step. On your own horse, in your own time, with nothing to film. Even better, do it with riding friends from the club. gaitacademy.com/ride-together

Good to know

  • The Festival is in English.
  • Members sign up themselves on the Festival page. Your club never shares any member details with me.
  • The Festival takes place in my online community, which members join right after signing up.

Your horse doesn't give you what you want. He gives you who you are in the saddle. And that's the part you can change.
